Armor, along with Weapons, increase the durability and combat finesse of your Townsfolk. Crafting of finding armor in the dungeon becomes more and more important the lower you mine.
Armor is stored inside armor cabinets or on an armor stockpile, and can be equipped by right-clicking on Townsfolk and following the equip menu.
Armor statistics, like weapon statistics, are decided by die roll, meaning there is a level of randomness to it - a high roll on defense of a Wooden Armor (1d89+255, high being 344) could beat a low roll on defense of a Bone Armor (1d119+340, a low roll being 1+340, or 341). For more information on die rolls, please see the relevant article.
There are also special types of armor which has effects imbued into it.
All armor, except wooden, cloth and leather, inflicts a speed penalty on the wearer.

Cloth/Leather
Made by using wool and hides for any of the leather pieces. Like Wooden armor, they do not inflict a speed penality on the wearer.
Because they only need one piece of Iron for the Hide Skinning Table and one for the ITE smithy, they can be quite useful when pressed for iron.
The enchanted leather armors can also be obtained from Caravans. They are some of the strongest armors that can be bought from caravans.

Power of the beast
|
|
- Mask of the beast temporarily gives it's wearer the "Power of the Beast" during which time they will appear as a bear (similar to highlanders). After the effect has worn off, the wearer will gain "tiredness" for a short time. For the duration of the "tiredness" debuff, the wearer will appear to have no armor or weapons regardless of other items they may have equipped.
