Stockpiles are areas designated by the player that the Townsfolk may store various types of items, including:
A stockpile can be any size and must be selected from the Stockpile menu in the bottom bar. When clicked and dragged out to form either a rectangle or a square, Townsfolk will begin bringing the type of item specified to the stockpile. For example, wood and stone would be brought to a raw materials stockpile, wheras raw deer steak and flour would be stored in a raw food stockpile.
- Once placed, stockpiles can be right-clicked to bring up a menu allowing or disallowing the storage of specific items; the player may designate one raw materials stockpile to be used purely for mud, and another purely for bones, for example. The menus also include handy "Enable All" and "Disable All" buttons for quick changes.
- Containers do not have to be placed on stockpiles, and will in fact destroy the single stockpile tile underneath if created and placed upon it.
- If all stockpiles of a specific type are full, Townsfolk will resume leaving items laying wherever they drop.
